Schedule

Public hearings will begin on Thursday, October 13 and run until Friday, December 2, 2022. The hearings will take place every weekday except on Remembrance Day, Friday Nov 11. The hearings will begin at 9:30 a.m. Eastern Time each day and may run until 6 p.m. or later if required.

Public Hearing venue

Public hearings will be held in the Winifred Bambrick Room at 395 Wellington Street, in Ottawa, Ontario.

Please note that, in response to the ongoing spread of respiratory viruses, Ontario’s chief medical officer of health and other public health officials have strongly recommended that masks be worn indoors. Health Canada also recommends masking where it is difficult to maintain physical distancing.

If you believe you may have COVID-19, the seasonal flu or other illness, please do not attend the hearings in person. You can watch the hearings using the livestream above.

Policy Phase

The Public Order Emergency Commission (POEC) will begin the policy phase of its work on Monday, November 28.

The policy phase will consist of a series of round-table discussions to assist the Commissioner with the development of recommendations related to all aspects of the Commission’s mandate, including the use of the Emergencies Act, any necessary modernization to the Act, as well as recommendations on areas for further study or review to fulfil this aspect of the Commission’s mandate.
